Wellesbourne Cricket Club CHL Saturday 1st XI v Long Itchington on Sat 10 Aug 2019 at 1.30pm
Wellesbourne Cricket Club Won by six wickets

Match report With strong winds making it very uncomfortable for both players and spectators alike Wellesbourne gained a six-wicket win over Long Itchington in a low-scoring game of only 151 runs of which 52 were extras. Itchington batted first and made a decent start reaching 33 in the eighth over before George Insall (10) was caught behind by Dave Barnett off Reece Myatt (5-0-1-25). However when they reached 41 in the tenth over their innings stalled as the introducton of Tom Stephenson and Sean Hopwood completely mesmerised them. Stephenson, in particular, bowled eight successive maidens in an outstanding spell of 10-8-3-2 and with Hopwood having the fine figures of 10-2-2-18 Itchington had no answer. Stephenson started with the wicket of Joe Lidster (11) to a brilliant catch at short mid off by Darren Mole and then dismissed Sam Green-Armitage caught and bowled. Hopwood then stepped in by bowling Tom Crosthwaite before Stephenson bowled Ryan Desai and Itchington were 54 for five and Stephenson's spell had ended. Noah Rose then returned to the attack and had Stephen Rawbone caught by Criag Cook before Hopwood bowled Martin Greaves. Rose (8.3-0-4-21) then picked up the final three wickets, ending opener Tom Perks’ 106 minute vigil at the crease for five having him caught by Travis Butcher before having Andy Wood caught by Myatt and finally Andy Smith caught by Matt Woods and Itchington ended on a sorrow looking 75 all out in the 37th over. With the wind not letting up, Bourne, however, made a dismal start in chasing down the easy target losing four early wickets for 31 as Smith picked up two wickets in an over having Mole lbw and bowling Jamie Maynard. Wood then had Myles Isted caught by Rawbone and Hopwood went caught behind by Desai off Zak Aulach and the hosts were struggling on 31 for four. However, Butcher (25 not out) and Woods (16 not out) carefully saw them home to victory without any further mishaps and Bourne stay in second place but Itchington, unfortunately, look destined to be relegated.
