Shipston on Stour v Wellesbourne Cricket Club CHL Saturday 1st XI on Sat 28 Jul 2018 at 1.30pm
Wellesbourne Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets

Match report Wellesbourne took advantage of being the only match to finish in the Premier Division due to the thundery showers with an eight-wicket win at Shipston (with all 10 wickets falling to catches) and have stretched their lead to 14 points over Lapworth with Overbury 37 points and Exhall & Wixford 40 points further behind. Bourne’s stand-in skipper Travis Butcher made the right call putting Shipston into bat and they struck in the fifth over when Reece Myatt claimed his first wicket for the first team when Jamie Maynard held a superb catch at first slip to remove Julian Morris with the score on 17. Matt Corby who had began in his usual style was next to go when he was well caught for 26 by Myles Isted off Darren Mole and on 38 for two the visitors were relieved to have removed both openers. Five runs later Myatt struck again having Marcus Ireland caught by Ross Milton before Jack Murphy and Jamie Shurmer dug in for the hosts and carefully built a stand of 41 in 13 overs before Tom Stephenson had Shurmer caught by Isted. Milton then got into the act removing Graham Pratt to a fine catch in the deep by Butcher and then grabbed two more wickets in two balls removing skipper Tom Cox to a catch by Maynard and Steve Cross caught by John Edden as Shipston slipped to 104 for seven. Two runs later Gary Betteridge departed caught and bowled by Stephenson before Murphy’s gallant knock of 55 ended as Tommy Wheeler caught him in the deep off Stephenson, who then removed James White caught and bowled and the innings ended on 123 all out. Stephenson led the way with 4-36, Milton 3-17, Myatt 2-37 and Mole 1-17. Bourne’s innings got off to a steady start against some good bowling from Corby and Ireland before Corby bowled Isted with the total on 26 in the 10th over. With the storm clouds gathering, Milton and Maynard then combined in a stand of 43 before Dave Pyne trapped Maynard lbw for 23 bringing Craig Cook to partner Milton before the rain arrived with Bourne on 89 for two. On resumption the revised target was set at 102 and it took Milton (39 not out) and Cook (18 not out) only seven balls to take Bourne to victory and set up nicely next week’s home fixture against Lapworth.
