Leamington 3rds v Wellesbourne Cricket Club CHL Saturday 1st XI on Sat 01 Jul 2017 at 1.30pm
Wellesbourne Cricket Club Won

Match report Bourne gained their seventh win of the season with a comprehensive 145-run win at Leamington thanks mainly to two fine all-round performances from Gary Maynard and Arron Snipe and at the halfway stage the reigning champions lead the Premier Division by four points from Exhall & Wixford with Norton Lindsey and Shipston a further four points adrift. After being put in to bat on a green looking track Bourne’s openers Gary Maynard and Jonny Spence made a solid start putting on a partnership of 48 before Dan McCarthy had Spence caught behind by Matt Dale for eight. Maynard looked in good form as he kept the momentum going with a flurry of boundaries before Travis Butcher went to another catch by Dale off Mohammed Dougar and then after reaching 55 Maynard was caught by Karin off N Payne and the visitors found themselves 98 for three. Skipper Dave Barnett and John Edden kept up the good work adding 30 runs before Barnett (17) departed as Dougar had him caught behind by Dale but Edden continued to look well set, smiting three sixes, before he was stumped by Dale off Karin for 34 and when Jamie Maynard was caught off Karin, Bourne were 166 for six. This, however, brought Tom Shearsby and Arron Snipe together and these two saw Bourne passed the 200 mark with Shearsby playing a fine supporting role as Snipe took on the attack and produced some big hitting as he peppered the boundary until Shearsby (17) went to an excellent catch by Dougar off Widowski and Bourne were 218 for seven. Snipe though continued in flowing form and after reaching an excellent 61 off 41 balls, with the total on 246, he too found Dale’s gloves off the bowling of Shinwari before Ben Cherry and Neil Abbott saw Bourne through to 259 for eight at the close of the innings. Karin 2-32 and Dougar 2-41 the pick of the Leamington attack. Leamington needed a good start in reply but were dealt a blow in the first over as Gary Maynard trapped M Reynolds lbw. However, James Cowan started playing some fine shots and with the steadier David Lord the home side had raced to 50 before Maynard clean bowled the dangerous Cowan for 34. Bourne then managed to get a firm grip on the scoring rate and Maynard then picked up Karin lbw before Snipe bowled M Gill. Maynard then grabbed his fourth wicket bowling Dale as the hosts slumped to 72 for five before Snipe produced a fine delivery that had Widowski caught behind by Barnett and then a similar delivery deceived Lord, who had batted well for his 32, as he was caught by Jamie Maynard. Young spinner Sean Hopwood then had Payne caught by Shearsby before Snipe had his fourth victim bowling McCarthy before Hopwood cleaned up Shimwari and Leamington were all out for 114 in the 31st over giving Bourne 24 points. Snipe 4-21, Maynard 4-32 and Hopwood 2-20 doing the damage.
