Wellesbourne Cricket Club CHL Saturday 1st XI v Catherine de Barnes on Sat 20 Aug 2016 at 1.30pm
Wellesbourne Cricket Club Won

Match report Bourne took a giant step to clinching the Premier Division as a superb century from Gary Maynard and five wickets from Harry Jackman paved the way to a 125-run win over Catney at Loxley Close which has left them 42 points clear with only two games to go and needing just seven points to secure the title. After winning the toss, Bourne’s openers Gary Maynard and skipper Dave Barnett gave the home side another fine start with an opening partnership of 83 before Barnett fell caught behind by S Taylor off Dave Stibbon for 24. Maynard was then joined by Jonny Spence and they continued the good work with both players playing in a positive way as the scoreboard was ticking along nicely and after 20 overs Bourne were on 115 for one. Spence then fell on 151 when he was bowled by Luke Hanlon for 24 bringing Jamie Maynard to the crease and there was no let up for the Catney bowlers as the runs continued to flow. Hanlon then had Jamie Maynard (13) caught on the boundary with the total on 188 before five runs later Gary Maynard’s outstanding innings ended on 121 when he was stumped by Taylor off Hanlon. In completing his innings Gary Maynard passed 5,000 Premier League runs for Bourne. Tom Shearsby then went to a catch off James Mason before Harry Jackman and Adam Kerrigan pushed the total on to 250 before Jackman was caught by Taylor off N Spence for 33. Spence then picked up Craig Cook and the Bourne innings closed on a healthy 254 for seven with Kerrigan 16 not out. Hanlon finished with 3-49 and Spence 2-29. Bourne then made another good start in the field when Gary Maynard bowled J Szrejder with the first ball of the innings and Shearsby picked up two quick wickets as Stibbon was caught at slip by Kerrigan and J Lindster was caught by Gary Maynard and Catney were 24 for three. With Catney desperate for points in their quest to stay in the top division Hanlon and skipper Mason began to knuckle down and slowly but surely tried to turn things around but having reached 70 Hanlon was superbly caught by Jackman off Jamie Maynard for 26 and soon after Mason was bowled by Jackman for 32. This was the end of any resistance as Bourne were now well on top and Jackman removed Lewis leg before and Tom Stephenson picked up L Green the same way. S Wardle with 21 not out showed some fight but Jackman completed his five wicket haul with the last three wickets having Spence caught by Jamie Maynard, Taylor lbw and finally A Davis caught by Cook. Jackman finished with 5-33, Shearsby 2-26, Jamie Maynard 1-14, Stephenson 1-24 and Gary Maynard 1-30.
