Wellesbourne Cricket Club CHL Saturday 1st XI v Bidford on Avon on Sat 09 Jul 2016 at 1.30pm
Wellesbourne Cricket Club Won

Match report An outstanding partnership of 223 between Gary and Jamie Maynard ensured Bourne made it a perfect 10 out of 10 wins for the season as the home side easily swept Bidford aside gaining a mammoth 282-run victory and now lead the Premier Division by 50 points from Earlswood. Amazingly, Bidford, again fielding only 10 players, made a good start as opening bowlers B Cooper and L Lowerson bowled accurately and soon picked up a couple of early wickets as first Dave Barnett went to a catch by Lowerson off Cooper and then Jonny Spence was bowled by Lowerson and Bourne were on 23 for two after 10 overs. However, Jamie Maynard then joined his brother Gary at the crease and these two began to take the game away from Bidford in spectacular style. With the Bidford bowlers unable to match their earlier efforts both batsmen were soon scoring all around the ground. Jamie Maynard became the more prolific of the pair as the partnership gained momentum and he completely destroyed the attack, smiting eight sixes in a terrific knock of 137 before W Edkins had him caught by J Collins in the deep as the pair took Bourne to 246. Gary Maynard continued the onslaught after his brother’s dismissal and he soon accelerated past his century and although Adam Kerrigan departed lbw for 17 with the score on 301, with the help of Harry Jackman (11 not out) he took Bourne to a formidable score of 347 for four, finishing with five boundaries in the final over and taking his score to a magnificent 162 not out. Cooper with 1-39 and Lowerson 1-57 proved by far the best of the Bidford attack. As in last week’s encounter Bidford made a steady start but on 19 Tom Shearsby bowled Lowerson for 12 and on 26 fellow opener W Edkins went for 10 caught by Jackman off Tom Stephenson and the batting, as with the bowling, completely disintegrated as wickets soon fell. Kerrigan picked up D Holt to a stumping from Barnett and Stephenson had two more as W Edkins was caught by Kerrigan and G Morgan caught by Shearsby. Kerrigan then removed Collins caught and bowled and Clayson to a catch from Matt Woods and Stephenson took his fourth having Cooper caught by Jamie Maynard and when Dewsbury was run out Bidford’s poor effort was over on 65 all out. Stephenson finished with 4-20, Kerrigan 3-12 and Shearsby 1-11.
