Tanworth & Camp Hill v Wellesbourne Cricket Club CHL Saturday 1st XI on Sat 25 Jun 2016 at 1.30pm
Wellesbourne Cricket Club Won

Match report Bourne secured their eighth successive win of the season at Tanworth-in-Arden when chasing a revised target of 117 in 35 overs they secured a seven-wicket success. Skipper Dave Barnett won the toss and asked the hosts to bat first and openers Fred Howard and Chris Barber were soon playing some expansive shots. However, this proved to be their downfall as Howard was caught by Ben Cherry off Tom Shearsby for 18 with the score on 24. Gary Maynard then had James Carey caught by Tom Stephenson and the Bourne opening bowlers began to get a firm grip on the game with some tight bowling. Shearsby then grabbed two more wickets having B Hill caught by Tommy Wheeler and R Hopkins caught behind by Barnett and after 20 overs Tanworth were struggling on 44 for four. Barber (18) became the fifth wicket when Harry Jackman had him caught by Jonny Spence and Stephenson removed T Starkey to a catch on the mid-wicket boundary by Gary Maynard. Stephenson then took two more wickets in successive balls having S Jones caught and bowled and trapping K Gill leg before and on 80 for eight the end seemed close. However, Bourne seemed to take their foot off the pedal at this stage and Andy Turnbull and Rory Turnbull produced a fine 50-run stand with some good batting until Jamie Maynard trapped the former in front for 44. Rory Turnbull (23 not out) continued the good tail end resistance with Brendon Kelso as his partner and took the total to 150 when Kelso was run out off the last ball of the 45th over. Shearsby 3-27, Stephenson 3-30, Jamie Maynard 1-8, Gary Maynard 1-10 (off eight overs) and Jackman 1-30 taking the wickets. With a rain delay, Bourne were set their revised target and openers Gary Maynard and Wheeler started well with both players looking untroubled. Maynard took four boundaries off one over and it was a surprise when Kelso had Wheeler caught for 14 with the score on 64. Maynard was next to go for a good 56, caught and bowled by Barber, and when Barnett also went leg before to Kelso the visitors found themselves 79 for three. However, Spence struck two big sixes and with Jamie Maynard as his partner these two took Bourne to victory, Spence finishing on 27 not out and Maynard eight not out. Kelso took 2-27 and Barber 1-34.
