Wellesbourne Cricket Club CHL Saturday 1st XI v Broadway on Sat 15 Aug 2015 at 1.30pm
Wellesbourne Cricket Club Won

Match report Bourne secured a comfortable 189-run success over relegated Broadway, who unfortunately could only field 10 players and look to face an uphill struggle over the next year or so. Bourne won the toss and were soon up and running with Gary Maynard and Tommy Wheeler soon into their stride and it was a surprise when Maynard fell to a superb caught and bowled by Matt Phillips for 21 with the score on 35. Nick Gabbett soon followed bowled by Phillips and when Wheeler was caught by Phillips off Adam Smallman for 32 and Travis Butcher (17) went to a catch by Steve Wheeler off Smallman the home side found themselves 85 for four. However, Jamie Maynard, in his 100th consecutive game for Bourne, and Dave Barnett set about repairing the situation and with both players looking in good form they took the score to 156 before Richard Pedley bowled Maynard for 37. John Edden then joined Barnett and they added 42 runs before Edden fell for 17 to a catch off Danny Mendoza. Barnett continued to play well and with the assistance of Harry Jackman they saw Bourne through to 254 before Steve Hopkins bowled Jackman for 30. Phillips then took another excellent caught and bowled to removed Barnett for a fine 80 and Bourne closed on 273 for eight. Phillips 3-46 and Smallman 2-14 the pick of the bowlers. In reply Bourne were soon amongst the wickets with Gary Maynard having D Williams caught by Tom Stephenson with only five on the board and then Maynard had Phillips caught and bowled before Chris Evans trapped K Holmes lbw. Maynard soon picked up his third wicket as Wheeler was caught behind by Barnett and Broadway were rocking on 29 for four. Things never got any better for the away side and John Edden took his first wicket for Bourne trapping C Maiden lbw, Evans bowled Hopkins and Edden had his second wicket bowling C Carenza with the total on 62 for seven. Five runs later, Stephenson bowled Pedley before Smallman and Mendoza tried in vain to rescue a hopeless situation before James Wilson took his first 1st XI wicket having Smallman caught by Jamie Maynard and the innings ended on 84. Gary Maynard 3-30, Edden 2-15, Evans 2-20, Wilson 1-9 and Stephenson 1-10 taking the wickets.
