Wellesbourne Cricket Club CHL Saturday 1st XI v Earlswood on Sat 03 Aug 2013 at 13:30
Wellesbourne Cricket Club Lost

Match report Bourne were outplayed as they crashed to a very disappointing six-wicket defeat in their top of the table clash against Earlswood, who now seem odds-on to lift the Premier Division title this season. Chasing their ninth win on the trot Bourne were asked to bat first on another fine day but were soon struggling as Arron Snipe had Tommy Wheeler caught by Craig Everett in the second over with only six runs on the board. Snipe was then removed from the attack and Earls resorted to an all-spin approach but Gary and Jamie Maynard began to play some fine shots and they soon took the score to 50 in the tenth over before Tariq Mohammed struck two incisive blows in two overs to remove both batsmen. First he bowled Gary Maynard for 26 and in the next over brother Jamie was well caught behind by George Calkeld for 11 and Bourne were 51 for three. Things got worse for the home side as Nathan Edwards was lbw to Dave Smith and Tariq grabbed his third wicket as Harry Jackman was caught by Smith leaving Bourne tottering on 60 for five. Marvin Rice then had Jonny Spence caught by Waqar Mohammed for 11 and at 78 for six the Bourne innings was in tatters. However sensible batting from Dave Barnett and Darren Mole slowly began to give Bourne some hope and with both players being very watchful they took the score to 119 before Barnett was caught by Karl Everett off Waqar for 34. Waqar then bowled Chris Evans and Tom Stephenson was run out with the score on 128 for nine before Mole (25 not out) and Joe Jordan batted out the 45 overs reaching a total of 141. Tariq with 3-20 and Waqar 2-15 being the pick of the bowlers. When Earls batted early wickets were imperative but although Evans and Gary Maynard bowled tightly it wasn’t to be as openers Leon Everett and Waqar played very carefully until Waqar was bowled by Edwards for 14 with the score on 34. Tariq then joined Leon Everett and they looked in complete control until spin was belatedly introduced in the 19th over and immediately Jackman had Everett caught by Spence for 34 and new batsman Craig Everett was caught on the long-on boundary by Gary Maynard off Tom Stephenson and Earls were 79 for three. Tariq, however, continued to look a class apart, and with Karl Everett these two took Earls close to victory before Gary Maynard trapped Tariq lbw for 49 with the score on 128. Soon after skipper Will Windeatt hit the winning runs and a comfortable victory was achieved in the 39th over, with Karl Everett finishing on 26 not out. Stephenson 1-20, Edwards 1-26, Maynard 1-30 and Jackman 1-32 taking the wickets.
