Kineton v Wellesbourne Cricket Club CHL Saturday 1st XI on Sat 27 Jul 2013 at 13:30
Wellesbourne Cricket Club Won

Match report An eighth win in a row, this time a resounding 145-run over local rivals Kineton, has set up a tasty encounter against leaders Earlswood next week, with 12 points now separating the two sides at the top of the table. Losing the toss and batting first Bourne had an early setback when Tommy Wheeler was caught behind by Tom Cooper off Sam Dexter with the score on 10. Gary and Jamie Maynard then consolidated and with the former soon into boundary mode they took the score to 48 before Ed Millard trapped Jamie Maynard lbw and the second wicket fell at 48. Gary Maynard continued to score freely but after taking 21 off the previous over he was well caught and bowled by Millard for a fine 61, his eighth half century of a productive season and Bourne were 79 for three. The loss of his wicket however did not curtail the scoring rate and with Harry Jackman joining Nathan Edwards these two made a steady start until Edwards began to unleash some marvellous strokes all around the ground in an outstanding innings. Jackman also began to score quickly but three runs short of a deserved fifty he was given leg before to Jordan Dunant and the excellent partnership of 142 was ended. Edwards continued his onslaught and he completed his second century in four games before his excellent innings ended on 122 to a catch at deep mid-wicket by Dunant off the bowling of Jack Stephens. Dave Barnett (21 not out) and Tom Shearsby then took the score to 293 for five before the innings closed. Millard 2-25 being the pick of the bowling. With rain forecast, Bourne were looking to grab early wickets and extra bowling points but they were given quite a shock as Kineton‘s openers Millard and Dunant started well. Millard, in particular, set about the bowling and was soon peppering the boundary and they raced to 68 off 10 overs but the introduction of skipper Stephenson and Jackman taking pace off the ball soon paid dividends as Millard’s brave knock ended when Stephenson bowled him for 54 with the score on 84 and next ball he had overseas player Cooper well taken at slip by Jamie Maynard. Jonny Bainton then joined Dunant and although these two tried hard to keep up with the run rate Bourne began to get on top and with the score on 121 Dunant fell to a brilliant one-handed catch by Wheeler off Jackman for 34 and Jackman grabbed two more wickets on 128 as Bainton (32) was caught by Stephenson and Sam Cooper was held by Tom Shearsby. Stephenson then re-introduced Gary Maynard into the attack and in his first over back he had Nick Briggs lbw and next over bowled J Wood. As the weather began to deteriorate Bourne then finished off the tail with the final three wickets falling on 148. First Joe Jordan had Rory Geary-Heaton caught by Edwards for 12, Gary Maynard had Dexter lbw and Wheeler wrapped up the innings having T Gower caught by Gary Maynard as the rain began to fall. Maynard 3-22, Jackman 3-37, Stephenson 2-36, Wheeler 1-0 and Jordan 1-10 doing the damage.
