Earlswood v Wellesbourne Cricket Club CHL Saturday 1st XI on Sat 25 May 2013 at 13:30
Wellesbourne Cricket Club Lost

Match report Bourne slumped to a 72-run defeat against last year’s runners-up Earlswood. After being put into to bat, Earlswood’s openers Leon Everett and Waqar Mohammed were quickly into their stride punishing any loose deliveries until Waqar (11) was caught behind by Dave Barnett off Gary Maynard with the score on 27. Everett (24) was next to go when Tom Stephenson had him caught at slip by Jamie Maynard and at 48 for two Bourne were beginning to make inroads into the Earls‘ batting. However Tariq Mohammed was joined by Craig Everett and these two produced the match-winning partnership of 186 with some excellent batting. Tariq, in particular, was in fine form and Everett, who survived a very close run-out and was dropped a couple of times, also played well. The stand was eventually broken when Tariq was run-out for an excellent 111 following a direct hit from Tommy Wheeler. Everett was then well caught by Harry Jackman off Stephenson for 71 and Bourne picked up three more wickets towards the end when Gary Maynard bowled Dave Smith, Karl Everett was caught by Chris Evans off Stephenson and Will Windeatt was run-out off the last ball of the innings and the home side finished on 261 for seven. Tom Stephenson 3-56 and Gary Maynard 2-32 being the wicket takers. Faced with a daunting total, Bourne started very positively with Gary Maynard and Wheeler looking to score at every opportunity and these two put on 71 before Wheeler was caught by Craig Everett off Arron Snipe for 23. 20 runs later, Snipe bowled Jamie Maynard and Marvin Rice then took charge grabbing three wickets; first removing Nathan Edwards lbw, Barnett was caught by Leon Everett and Jackman was stumped by George Calkeld. However, Gary Maynard was playing very well at the other end and with the score on 125, it was his dismissal, being bowled by Waqar for 73, that finally ended Bourne‘s hopes of victory. Tom Shearsby and Darren Mole took the score to 143 before both were out, Shearsby (14) caught at long on by Karl Everett off Waqar and Mole caught and bowled by Dave Smith. Then a good partnership between Evans and Stephenson gained an extra couple of batting points with a spirited stand of 43 for the ninth wicket before Evans was caught and bowled by Tariq for 25 and in the last over Waqar bowled Stephenson for 12 and Bourne were all out for 189. Rice 3-25, Waqar 3-30, Snipe 2-50, Smith 1-17 and Tariq 1-25 taking the wickets.
