Earlswood v Wellesbourne Cricket Club CHL Saturday 1st XI on Sat 28 May 2011 at 13:30
Wellesbourne Cricket Club Lost by 77 runs

Match report Earlswood 229 all out
Wellesbourne 151 all out

Wellesbourne’s stop start to the season continued with their second
defeat in four games to an impressive Earlswood who ran out
comfortable winners by 78 runs. Wellesbourne’s decision to bowl first
paid immediate dividends when Chris Evans removed Leon Everitt with
the fourth ball of the match courtesy of a smart catch at mid-on from
Nathan Edwards. Craig Everitt then joined Karl Everitt at the crease
and apart from a sharp chance at slip both players played very well in
taking the score to 82 before late replacement Phil Rothwell clean
bowled Craig for 22. Rothwell also picked up the wicket of Price with
a fine catch at slip by Adam Kerrigan with the score on 114 but Karl
Everitt continued in good form until Gary Maynard returned to bowl him
for an excellent 80 with the score on 140. ’Bourne then got firmly
back into the game as Kerrigan removed Will Windeatt with a catch by
Jamie Maynard and a superb piece of fielding from Tom Shearsby ran out
Giles Clements as the home side slumped to 143 for six. However Marvin
Rice (58) and Dave Smith 38 not out rallied the innings with a fine
partnership of 74 until Rice, who batted very well, was caught by
Patrick Prasad off Kerrigan. Kerrigan then took two more wickets, both
stumped by Dave Barnett, and Tom Stephenson clean bowled Digger Norman
as Earlswood were all out for 229. Kerrigan finished with 4-55,
Rothwell 2-17, Evans 1-35, Maynard 1-38 and Stephenson 1-39. In reply
’Bourne made a bright start as Maynard scored four early boundaries
but Arran Snipe had him well caught at slip by Windeatt for 17 and
Prasad was caught behind by George Calkeld again off Snipe leaving
them 19 for two. It soon became 34 for four as Kerrigan was caught by
Calkeld off Snipe and Jamie Maynard was caught by Leon Everitt off
Norman and the innings looked in tatters until Barnett and Shearsby
regrouped and with some intelligent batting these two took the score
to 104 before Rice trapped Barnett lbw for 30. Snipe grabbed his
fourth wicket when Edwards was caught behind by Calkeld and Rothwell
perished to a catch by Craig Everitt off Rice and Bourne were 131 for
seven. Shearsby continued to play well until Norman returned to bowl
him for a fine 52 and Evans hit a gallant 13 before Calkeld stumped
him off Smith. Snipe and Calkeld then combined for their fifth victim
apiece when Tom Stephenson was caught behind and ’Bourne were all out
for 151. Snipe finished with the fine figures of 5-42, Norman 2-21,
Rice 2-23 and Smith 1-30 to complete a good day for Earlswood and a
poor one for Wellesbourne.
