Wellesbourne Cricket Club CHL Saturday 1st XI v Alcester & Ragley on Sat 10 Jun 2017 at 1.30pm
Wellesbourne Cricket Club Won

Match report Bourne picked up their first home win of the season with a good six-wicket success over Alcester & Ragley and the champions have moved into second place in the Premier Division 10 points behind early pacesetters Norton & Lindsey. Alcester took first strike and made a decent start until Dave Swinburn (11) was bowled by Darren Mole with the total on 27. David Pilkington and Adam Warbrick kept up the good work with a solid partnership of 42 until Mole struck again by bowling Warbrick for 24 and 12 runs later Ben Cherry trapped Pilkington in front for 29. Mole then picked up his third wicket having Mark Fawthrop lbw and Bourne were now in the ascendancy as wickets began to fall. Max Biltcliffe was run out for 10 following smart work by Tom Stephenson, before John Edden took a superb catch to dismiss Tim Jackson off the bowling of Stephenson. Sean Hopwood then got into the act having Ben Shuttleworth (18) stumped by Dave Barnett and then another excellent catch by Edden off Stephenson removed Tom Wright. Hopwood removed Oliver Swinburn lbw and Stephenson finished off the innings having George Guy stumped by Barnett leaving Curtis Clark 11 not out and the visitors all out for 140. Stephenson 3-19, Mole 3-22, Hopwood 2-23 and Cherry 1-51 doing the damage. In reply Bourne's openers Myles Isted and Jonny Spence made a good start and both players were looking well in control as they took the score to 57 until Fawthrop had Isted caught by Jackson for 23. Bourne then lost two more quick wickets as Spence fell lbw to Warbrick and Edden was run out by a superb direct throw from Warbrick and suddenly Alcester were back in the game with Bourne tottering on 67 for three. However, skipper Barnett and Jamie Maynard dug in and with some watchful batting and the odd boundary these two built a match-winning partnership of 70 until with four runs required for victory Maynard was caught by Warbrick off Oliver Swinburn for 29. Mole then joined Barnett, who finished on 31 not out, to hit the winning runs and Bourne were home for victory. Fawthrop 1-21, Swinburn 1-23 and Warbrick 1-29 taking the wickets.
