Bidford on Avon v Wellesbourne Cricket Club CHL Saturday 1st XI on Sat 02 Jul 2016 at 1.30pm
Wellesbourne Cricket Club Won

Match report Bourne have reached the halfway stage of the season with an unblemished record of nine wins from nine games following a comfortable six-wicket win at Bidford with Tom Stephenson taking the bowling honours with the amazing figures of six wickets for three runs from six overs. Bidford, fielding only ten players, won the toss and chose to bat and made a steady start as Macer Nash and T Edkins put on 21 runs before Gary Maynard had Edkins caught by brother Jamie for 12 and when Tom Shearsby removed Nash to a stumping from Dave Barnett the home side’s resistance ended there and then as Stephenson completed routed the rest of the batting. First, he had A Gretton stumped by Barnett, Mick Nason caught by Travis Butcher, bowled W Edkins and had N Chaudy caught by Adam Kerrigan as the home side fell to 33 for six. With only B Cooper, who made 17 not out, showing any ability to stay at the crease, Stephenson then took two more wickets as A Lovell was well caught by a diving Gary Maynard and L Harrison caught by Harry Jackman. With the rain arriving the players came off for a 20-minute break and on resumption Gary Maynard trapped N Edkins lbw and Bidford were all out for a paltry 54 in 26.5 overs. Stephenson 6-3, Maynard 2-11 and Shearsby 1-9. In reply, Bourne made some changes to their batting order but were dealt a blow in the first over when Jackman was caught behind by Nash off Cooper. Kerrigan then joined Jonny Spence at the crease but after hitting a six Kerrigan fell lbw to Nason and Bourne were 12 for two. Spence then picked up a couple of boundaries but with the score on 20 Gretton caught Butcher off Nason. This brought Jamie Maynard into bat and Spence then decided to try and win the game on his own, striking a couple of sixes before he tried one too many and Nason (3-21) had him caught by Gretton for 38 with 50 on the board. Five penalty runs then took Bourne over the line off 8.4 overs to keep them in first place in the Premier Division with a 48-point lead over Earlswood while Bidford remain at the bottom.
