Long Itchington v Wellesbourne Cricket Club CHL Saturday 1st XI on Sat 23 Aug 2014 at 1.30pm
Wellesbourne Cricket Club Won

Match report With Shipston clinching a well-deserved Premier Division title with their win over Catherine-de-Barnes, Bourne secured the runners-up spot with a 20-run win at Long Itchington. Losing the toss Bourne took first strike and made a decent start moving on to 31 before Alex Jack bowled Gary Maynard, in his 100th consecutive game for Bourne, for 21. Nathan Edwards and Dave Barnett then carried on the good work until Jack struck again bowling Edwards for 40 and the same bowler then dismissed John Edden the same way and Bourne were 97 for three. This brought in skipper Jamie Maynard to join Barnett, who was in superb form, and for the second week running these two played extremely well in partnership taking their stand to 90 before Nick Brooks bowled Barnett for an excellent 78. Maynard soon followed stumped off Mitch Lowe for 41 and then Lowe took three more wickets having Harry Jackman and Darren Mole lbw and Chris Evans stumped, leaving Tom Havers unbeaten on 22 and Bourne closed on 225 for eight. Lowe finished with 4-16 and Jack 3-25. In reply, with Itchington looking to grab points to save them from relegation, Gary Maynard struck an early blow in the second over bowling the dangerous Lowe with the score on 10. Roger Eadon and Jack then rallied, taking the score to 47 before Gary Maynard caught Jack off Jackman for 17. Eadon was next to go for 28 when Havers caught him off Stephenson but George Insall and Tom Crosthwaite continued to bat well for Itchington but with the total on 103 Jackman grabbed two wickets having Crosthwaite (19) caught behind by Barnett and bowling Brooks. With the score on 141, Insall then went for 32 to a catch by Jackman off Stephenson and seven runs later Edwards removed Steve Franks to a catch by Mole. However, James Clarke and Zak Aulakh began to look comfortable until Bourne finally made a breakthrough on 183 when Gary Maynard returned and had Clarke lbw for a good 41 and four runs later Edwards bowled Andy Wood. Aulakh and Steve Chapman batted out the final overs taking Itchington to 205 for nine gaining some valuable points in their quest to stay in the division. Jackman 3-41, Maynard 2-35, Stephenson 2-35 and Edwards 2-43 taking the wickets.
