Wellesbourne Cricket Club CHL Saturday 1st XI v Kineton on Sat 18 May 2013 at 13:30
Wellesbourne Cricket Club Won

Match report Bourne returned to winning ways with a comfortable seven-wicket win at home over local rivals Kineton. After being put in to bat the visitors, who fielded a very youthful side, made a steady start until Gary Maynard trapped Jordan Dunant lbw with the score on 18. Four runs later Aussie overseas Tom Cooper was next to go when he was run out following a mix-up with the evergreen Mike Bainton and Maynard then bowled Harry Adams with the total on 29. Jonny Bainton joined his father at the crease and both were looking solid until Maynard took his third and fourth wickets in two balls when Bainton senior was trapped in front and skipper Ed Millard was smartly caught at second slip by his Bourne counterpart Tom Stephenson and Kineton were struggling on 37 for five. However Jon Bainton found an able partner in young Sam Cooper and these two slowly began to rally the innings with a partnership of 35 until Nathan Edwards had the former caught behind by Dave Barnett for 21. Cooper continued to bat steadily but unfortunately for him and his team wickets tumbled at the other end. Stephenson had Rory Geary-Heaton stumped by Barnett and Edwards bowled Jack Stephens and Kineton were 83 for eight. Harry Jackman then came on and immediately took the wicket of Callum Henn caught by Jonny Spence and Edwards wrapped up the innings clean bowling last man James Cooper and the visitors were all out for 99 with extras totalling 31 (including 16 wides and four no-balls), which was the only disappointing aspect for Bourne. Maynard finished with 4-27, Edwards 3-14, Jackman 1-4, Stephenson 1-20 and although wicketless, Joe Jordan conceded only 14 runs from his ten overs. In reply the home side were soon into their stride with Maynard and Tommy Wheeler looking in good form until Dunant was introduced into the attack and with his first ball Maynard was caught by Millard for 21 with the score on 34. Jamie Maynard soon followed when Millard bowled him and Wheeler then had a rush of blood and was easily stumped by Cooper off Dunant for 26 and Bourne were 62 for three. Although a couple of chances were put down by the visitors, Edwards (28 not out) and Barnett (18 not out) saw Bourne safely home to victory. Dunant 2-25 and Millard 1-23 being the successful bowlers and a mention for young Rory Geary-Heaton who bowled four good overs at the start of the innings.
