Kenilworth Wardens III v Wellesbourne Cricket Club CHL Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 02 Jun 2012 at 13:30
Wellesbourne Cricket Club Lost by 1 wicket
Match report
wardens 3's crept over the line to win by one wicket after a dramatic finish to beat bourne 2's. put into bat bourne started slowly but built an innings that was competitive considering the unexpected overnight rain. spence lost his wicket early bringing dutton to join wilson. these two put on 66 before wilson was bowled for 31. jarrett joined dutton who by now was taking the attack to the home side's bowlers, he scored an attractive 65 before holing out to burton. with jarrett holding the innings together cameos from rothwell & alford enabled bourne to claim a 4th batting point & reach a respectable 179/5 from their 45 overs. jarrett finished 25 not out, while white 2/19, brown 2/34 were the pick of the wardens bowlers.
wardens lost a couple of wickets to jarrett, bringing brown & berry together which proved to be the decisive partnershipe for the home side. berry top scored with 68 but survived due to numerous chances not being taken by the visitors. he & brown (31), then skipper gough (20) took wardens to within sight of victory before a dramatic finish to the game. at 175/5 a comfortable win was on the cards until spence returned to snaffle 3 wickets in an over & alford took another to reduce wardens to 177/9 with two overs to go. 2 wides & a scrambled single meant wardens survived squeaky bum time to claim a narrow win. spence finished with 4/46, jarrett 2/16 & alford 2/31 with bourne rueing dropped catches.
