Wellesbourne Cricket Club CHL Saturday 1st XI v Bretforton on Sat 23 Jul 2011 at 13:30
Wellesbourne Cricket Club Won by 7 Wickets

Match report Wellesbourne 122 for three
Bretforton 118 all out

A steady 92-run partnership by Jamie Maynard and Adam Kerrigan
combined with an excellent all-round bowling performance maintained
Wellesbourne's position as leaders of the Premier Division when they
completed a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Bretforton. After
being put into bat Bretforton lost their skipper Paul Jones in the
second over when he played on to a ball from Matt Stephenson for nine
and Stephenson struck again when Adrian Stanley was caught at mid on
by Phil Rothwell also for nine with the score on 24. Gary Maynard then
bowled Will Lloyd for no score and Jack Dell went next ball when he
was run out from a smart piece of fielding from Nathan Edwards and the
visitors were struggling on 25 for four. Adrian Witts and H Dodd began
to rally the innings but the introduction of Kerrigan into the attack
ended Witts innings when he was caught by Jamie Maynard at gully for
16 with the score on 53. Dodd and A Icke took the score to 74 with
some careful batting until Kerrigan bowled Icke for eight and had Josh
Radford well caught behind by Dave Barnett for no score. Dodd was next
to go for 27 when Tom Stephenson bowled him and Bourne were well on
top. Alex Evans and S Edgehill tried to play a few shots but Edgehill
holed out to Tommy Wheeler off Tom Stephenson and then Evans (22) was
bowled by Tom Shearsby and the innings closed on 118 all out. Kerrigan
3-19, Tom Stephenson 2-25, Matt Stephenson 2-28, Gary Maynard 1-15 and
Shearsby 1-19 grabbing the wickets. In reply Bourne made a poor start
as Radford removed Gary Maynard and Tommy Wheeler cheaply, both caught
behind by Dodd, with the total on 19. However this brought Kerrigan in
to join Jamie Maynard and it was these two who batted patiently in
turning the game fully in Bourne's favour as Bretforton seemed to run
out of ideas as they tried nine bowlers to break the partnership until
Maynard (49) holed out to Lowerson at long on off Stanley with the
score on 111 and victory in sight. Barnett hit the winning runs and
Kerrigan continued his good form of late and finished with a fine
unbeaten 45. Radford 2-22 and Stanley 1-17 being the wicket takers.
